blackout at my birthday + objectification = blog returning?

Hello, I'm BluePuffin!! This entry is me returning. No promises this time. I already have an entry prepared for next friday, and since i couldn't post this friday, i'll post today. Thank you!!

today is 4th of may. ill recommend 2 songs and talk about my birthday, and relating it to Gaza and i know what you're thinking, but you'll see how it makes sense later on.

songs of the week🎶

One of the songs, the one called Thérèse, by Maya Hawke, really touched me. I heard it many times nonchalantly as a background song in TikTok or Insta vids, but only today I found out what it really means. It refers to this painting, called Thérèse Dreaming.
I don't understand quite well why THIS drawing, probably because some may see it as voyeuristic or sexually appealing. Maya Hawke made a music video where the woman body was shown naked, but as bodies, not sexual objects. The chorus refers to Thérèse as not belonging to whoever the song was dedicated to, though saying the cars and horses and cowboys do. The song also says, simply "She's just Thérèse.". This song may be hard to interpretate, but I simply see it as Maya saying "women are merely women, not something to be immediately se
en as sexual". I couldn't agree more. It may be hard to objectify, specially with the porn culture, but I promise that you'll feel much better when you start seeing every human as a human and not as a sexual object.

Large Scale Blackout at my Birthday for €0,99💕

During April 28 2025, an event that made me realise my dependence on the internet and eletricity and the incredibility of humans: a large scale blackout, right on my birthday. I had written a blog article about it in my equally inactive japanese blog. Here: link. It's in Japanese tho...

For short, for an unknown reason, Portugal and Spain became electricity-less from 11:33 am 28 april until... it depends on the region and town. For me, it returned to normal during the night (late night, like from midnight until i woke up). It was double special for me. I had asked for a small earthquake, and I got a blackout. Though it was fun seeing people gather in the street and to live like the 90s glued to my radio, the overcrowded Lisbon airport filled in despair and the metro system stopping working weren't on my bucket list.

As I said, this was definitely an unusual day. However, we must remember that many places around the world are like this non-stop. When I mean non-stop, it's not having electricity for months and months on end. For example, (you guessed it), Gaza, where people suffer more than we can understand. The ceasefire I may have or may have not reffered previously was broken, and Israel is still cutting off electricity supply to Gaza. I have felt how different life is without eletricity for a day, and I can't imagine living like that more than one day.

Please, don't keep your mouth shut. If you live in a city, try going to protests. If you can't, try reposting informative info on your Instagram Stories, and, most importantly, keeping yourself informed and signing petitions. You can sign this petition for a real ceasefire, for example: https://www.amnesty.org/en/petition/demand-a-ceasefire-by-all-parties-to-end-civilian-suffering/. If you have money, please donate to Save The Children and/or Medical Aid for Palestinians. Both are very important for the Gazan people who suffer very much, more than us Portuguese did on April 28th. As for Amnesty, thank you for making the petition!!

Also, visit arab.org to make a change with a click! With each click, you donate for a cause of your choice for free. Ty!! My birthday was unforgettable, both in a bad and a good way. I'm glad I got a free digital detox and to use my tiny radio, but... eating cold food and hearing about people stranded in the Lisbon airport wasn't fun... Welp, ty!!

If you know of any other place with suffering like this and petitions we can sign, don't hesitate to drop a comment!

Thank you for reading until here! May your life be filled with gewblios, peace, and love.
 I love you.
 Best wishes,
 Blue Puffin
